just playing around on mlb.com…let’s have fun with numbers.
offense (nl only):
1st in avg, slugging, on base %, walks, total bases, runs, 2b, pitches seen
4th in hr
pitching (nl only):
16th in slugging
15th in era, whip, on base allowed
13th in saves, k/bb ratio
12th in strikeouts
1st in hr’s allowed
3rd in total bases allowed
while one run against rheal cormier’s brother lance (he of the 6.69 era) is unforgivable, there is but one villian in this season: the pitching. and, oh by the way, the starters era is 4.94 and the bullpen era is 4.75.
how about this one: 3.04 era against the man leading off the inning.
and for all you chris coste fans: opposing batting average is 29 points higher with cc vs. barajas and 35 points higher with cc vs. ruiz. that’s bad. that’s way worse than liberthal ever was…
and for all you gamblers, bet the phils when they aren’t facing a “power” (k or bb more than 28% of batters faced) pitcher. average of .257 against power…average of .288 against the rest.
