AT LEAST THE SOUL WON

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008 @ 7:46 am | Flyers

It is happening again.

The feeling of doom has officially blanketed the city of Philadelphia once again. We’re going to lose tonight, and we’re going to blow another 3-1 series lead to a team that we’re probably better than. It’s just going to happen. I think I’m going to vomit blood. Blowing a two goal lead for the second time this series is bad enough, but blowing the game last night at home is completely unacceptable. They fell asleep. They stopped hitting. They stopped skating. They stopped playing.

Something the Flyers (and every other team in Philadelphia over the past quarter century) still haven’t learned is that when you have your opponent on the ropes, you knock them the fuck out. You put your foot on their throat and you press down harder. The Caps are down 2-0 with 17 minutes left in the second period, with their season on the line, and you don’t think they are going to go all out and make one last gasp attempt to salvage their season? They were a desparate team, and the Flyers began to play like the game was already over. Fucking pathetic.

So now the Flyers have to go on the road for a Game 7, in an arena that is dying for a win, and against a team that is hungrier and just happens to have the best player on the planet. And close your ears Flyers fans: Marty Biron is 0-5 with a 5.95 Goals Against Average and a .822 save percentage in back-to-back games this year.

The city of pain will live up to it’s name tonight. Pack your bags John Stevens.
