THEY PLAY HARD FOR CHARLIE

Monday, April 7th, 2008 @ 10:55 am | Phillies

I manage better on champagne

That’s all that matters right? Forget the errors, forget bringing Chad Durbin in the game, forget leaving Adam Eaton in one inning too long (Charlie, rule of thumb: if you are lucky enough to get seven innings out of Adam Eaton, get him out of the game immediately), forgot not walking the bases loaded with one out to get a force out at every plate, forget all of that.

These guys play hard for Charlie. Forget that he is the worst situational manager in the history of baseball. Forget he costs you between 5-7 games a year on poor decision making alone. They play hard for him. What else can you ask for?

Does Jimmy Williams not know any better? Or Rich Dubee? Or the Phanatic? It’s freaking ridiculous that as a group, the Phils coaches keep making fundamental mistakes. I suppose there are times that Uncle Charlie’s gut is correct, but if you play the fundamentals, I don’t think anyone would have a problem. Yes, Joey Votto is a better hitter than Paul Bako, but with one out and runners on second and third, keeping a team from scoring involves a K or the right ground ball to either hold the runners or set up a play at the plate. You need the force at home or the chance of a double play. Oh well. Bring on the Mets!
